How should I deal with my daughter's husband. He is arrogant, rude and disrespectful towards me.?

I get along with everyone in my life and at work except him. I think he is threatened by me. He told me he does not like my personality.and when I act excited about something "it makes his skin crawl". I just told him we need to be civil to each other and I am sorry he feels that way. He tries to isolate my daughter - she rarely can contact me. I need to keep a relationship because I have a little granddaughter who loves coming to see me and I adore. I am afraid he will cut me off from her if I confront him but I am so tired of his condescending attitude. I think he is threatened by me - he makes more money than me but I have a Ph.D. and excellent job at university - and life experience. I want to see my daughter who is 28 but know she will pay for any kind of interaction with me....what should I do ? why is he like this
